Cancelling Netflix
What people ask about Netflix.
Can you cancel Netflix without me logging in?
Yes. The notice goes to Netflix in writing, so it does not depend on you reaching a cancel button inside your account. A lost password or a locked account does not stop it.
How long does a Netflix cancellation take?
Drafting and serving the notice takes minutes. Netflix then has to act on it, which usually happens within a few working days. Your cancellation counts from the date on the notice, not from the day they get round to it.
Will Netflix keep charging me?
The notice tells them to stop billing and to remove your stored payment details. If a charge still lands, the dated notice and the proof of delivery are exactly what your bank asks for when you dispute it.
What if I signed up to Netflix through Apple or Google?
Tell us the email on the subscription and we still serve the notice on Netflix. Where the billing sits with an app store, we say so in the letter so there is no argument about who was told what.
Do I have to phone anyone or sit in a chat queue?
No. Everything is in writing, which is the point — a retention agent cannot talk you out of a letter, and you end up holding the record.
Does the letter ask them to delete my data?
Yes. It asks the company to erase the personal data it holds on you where it has no lawful reason to keep it, and to confirm in writing once it has.
